Building a Raised Bed
In just a week we built a raised garden bed! We used old railroad ties, mulch, and potting soil and our crops have taken off!
Jackson Park Work Day
We got the amazing opportunity to take a team of 13 students to Jackson Park to serve as volunteers to help landscape their new park. We even made it onto WLOS and you can see the story here!
Dairy Judging Competition
We studied hard and were blessed to take both a junior and senior team to Winston-Salem for Dairy Judging competition.
Meeting the National President
Felt very honored for the national FFA president, Andrew Seibel, to come to our area and get to hear him speak. Big thank you to North River Farms for hosting West FFA, North Henderson HS FFA, East Henderson HS FFA, and numerous others that are tightly involved with our local agriculture and FFA chapters.
Mills River Day
Numerous of our members stepped up to the plate and volunteered at Mills River Day and helped to run hay rides, Henderson County's FFA booth, management of the horse show, and much more.
Annual Plant Sale Fundraiser
With months of preparation and an extremely busy day, we had the pleasure of calling our main fundraiser of the year a huge success!
Quiz Bowl Teams' Success
So incredibly proud of our quiz bowl team who qualified for state level at the State Convention in Raleigh in the summer of 2023! They killed it and were the State runer-ups.
State Tractor Driving Champion
We feel so special to get to say that our 2023-2024 FFA President also won the Tractor Driving Competition this year, placing first in the entire state! See the news story done on him here!
Special Classroom Guest
So thankful to the mayor of Mills River and mayor of Fletcher for coming out to talk with our classes about land conservation/surveying, saving agricultural land, and general land management. We even had a local land surveyor come out with them!
Livestock Judging Competition
We had the amazing opportunity to take both a junior and senior team to compete in livestock judging where both teams did exceptionally well with our junior team placing within the top 10 in the state!
End of Year Banquet
Had a super fun and laid back end-of-year banquet where we went over the past year's events, announced new officer positions, had a potluck style meal, and swam in the river!
Regional Rally 2023
Months of hard work and studying paid off when every single one of our competitors qualified to go to state this year. We competed in Introduction to Horticulture, Quiz Bowl, Extemporaneous Public Speaking, Tool ID, Prepared Public Speaking, Creed Speaking, and the student talent show!!
Football Game Sales
We had an awesome booth set up at a home football game where we sold beef jerky, glow sticks, and face paint. We loved getting to see everyone's faces, the local elementary kids who came! Thank you to all who helped and supported us
Livestock Judging 2023
So proud of our Junior Livestock Judging team who placed 9th in the West Region!
